Position Summary
The production planner is responsible for developing and maintaining a detailed production plan within a network of manufacturing facilities including contract manufacturers, ensuring a balance between plant capacity, efficiency, shipment, and logistics. The production planner ensures that the plant schedule is transparent and coordinates the use of the plant's resources such as machines/lines, material, and personnel with the goal of requirements coverage that is as complete as possible and on schedule. Plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors the flow of products through the complete production cycle. Will maintain inventory levels within the levels that meet the customer service levels, track the performance and the cost levels set by management. Develop & implement recovery backup plans, identify opportunities for process improvements.
Role & Responsibilities
- Plan and organize production schedules for multiple products
- Review MPS with production team on a set frequency (weekly) and propose adjustments if needed
- Responsible for the medium-term and long-term capacity outlook, optimizing the trade-offs between production capacity constraints & inventory levels
- Communicate the final production plan to manufacturing operations to ensure alignment.
- Issue and maintain work orders in ERP system.
- Manage and develop production planning within agreed standards (inventory policies, target service level, batch sizes, lead-time
- Support the IBP process; participate in the demand review meetings on a monthly (and weekly) basis as base of understanding for volatility in demand as well as owning capacity related settings and outlook to drive discussions and create simulations, if necessary
- Identify internal capacity bottlenecks in medium & long-term planning horizon, and make recommendations and propose solutions/scenarios to solve them
- Plan and support new product introduction
- Collect, analyze, create/update, and report supply chain key business metrics
- Participate in Monthly Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP).
- Perform root-cause analysis for continuous improvement
- Maintain the integrity of system data and information for supply planning
- Manage special packaging requests (value added packages)

Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business management, or related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in production planning within an ERP system required
- Experience in MRP (Manufacturing resource planning) and WMS (Warehouse Management System) highly preferred
- Experience in implementation of ERP systems preferred
