POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Maintenance Technician keeps the production equipment for an electric motor manufacturing plant properly maintained. Duties involve the performance of maintenance operations and the use of tools and equipment of several trades, such as mechanic, carpentry, electrical, etc. Work involves a combination of the following: Planning and layout of work relating to repair mechanical and/or electrical equipment; installing and aligning new equipment; and maintaining building as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Troubleshoots and repairs manufacturing equipment involving primarily mechanical, electrical and structural
- Ability to identify technical malfunctions in mechanical / pneumatic / hydraulic and electrical systems using appropriate manuals, drawings, and tools
- Comply with all safety procedures, practices and regulations including Lock-Out Tag-Out
- Maintain records of all maintenance activities
- Performs preventive building maintenance duties or coordinates with contractors as appropriate
- Purchases supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects
- Demonstrable manual dexterity using various types of tools in the performance of this discipline
- Ability to follow directions, both verbally and written
- Basic computer skills
- Committed to quality, be detail oriented, adept at multi-tasking and well organized
- Ability to be self-motived, work independently or as a team member, and be an effective communicator while addressing issues that arise with a sense of urgency
- Complete all other tasks as assigned by the manager or supervisor
REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED Experience:
- High School degree or equivalent required
- Prior maintenance experience preferred
- Advanced maintenance training desirable
- Requires the basic ability or knowledge required to read blue prints, installation instruction sheets, local and national installation/safety codes
- Adept at using mechanical, carpentry, electrical and plumbing shop type power and hand tools correctly and safely
- Strong background in electrical machine repair is preferred
- Ability to read schematics
- Experience working with PLC
- Trouble shooting
- Mechanical knowledge with Mills - Lathes and other machining equipment
- Some robotics experience would be a plus
