- 2-3 days a week the team will work together at our locations in downtown San Jose and San Ramon. In person collaboration is key for this position.

About Opsin
At Opsin, we’re enabling enterprises to adopt GenAI securely. Our vision is to become the security platform for GenAI, much like Zscaler has become for cloud security. Here’s a bit more about us:
• What we do: Our product orchestrates security measures for enterprises adopting GenAI. You can find more details about our work and progress in this document.
• Funding and traction: We raised $3M in pre-seed funding in June 2024.
• Team: Our team includes MIT alumni, former Abnormal Security engineers, and a previously successful startup founder. We initially worked with overseas contractors and have recently started building our core team in the Bay Area.
• Open roles: We’re currently hiring three Staff/Senior Engineers.
In this role, you’ll face exciting challenges, including integrating, ingesting, and processing hundreds of millions of documents for enterprises. A key challenge will be ensuring Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems maintain the right level of security, protection, and PII scrubbing. You’ll own and build a scalable data system and search stack to solve these complex problems. It’s a high-ownership position with substantial impact.
Projects you’ll be working on:
• LLM security layer
• Context-based roles and permissions
• Optimizing for performance and latency to enhance tool adoption by engineering teams
Position
We are looking for a lead engineer to build the foundation of our product.
What you will do:
- Building our products from 0 to 1
- Work with our first customers and iterate on solutions
- Work closely with the team to develop architecture and product features
Criteria:
- At least 5+ years working on a core software team
- Experience shipping software to production and owning it full lifecycle
- Comfort leading a project and working through ambiguity
- High proficiency designing services, data tiers, and APIs
- (ideal) Experience building GenAI or ML applications
- (desirable) Python ecosystem experience
