Job Summary:
The Plant Manager coordinates all activities of the manufacturing facility to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations while maximizing profits. Provide leadership to a diverse team to strategically plan, direct and coordinate all aspects of operations including but not limited to improving performance in safety, quality, productivity and profitability through the implementation of effective leadership, methods and strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accountable for all aspects of employee life cycle (hiring, training, constructive and timely performance evaluations, discipline, and termination) in accordance with company policy.
- Collaborates with other managers and supervisors to coordinate activities in and among departments.
- Ensure adequate resources, equipment and people, are in place to meet operational needs.
- Review, analyze, specify, develop and recommend plans for capital expenditures for production lines, machinery, measurement systems, material handling systems, utilities installation, building facilities, property improvements, and all forms of tooling.
- Ensure systems are in place to drive continuous improvement and build in sustainability by leading and being a role model of 5S and LEAN, including implementation of TPM.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices including those related to safety and health.
- Develops and implements procedures and strategies to ensure a safe work environment.
- Monitor all operations and processes.
- Prepare operating reports and budgets.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety regulations.
- Ensure all compliance needs are met.
- Develop strategies to increase productivity and production.
- Oversee all shipments, incoming inventory, and storage operations.
- Optimize productive time for employees by eliminating unnecessary processes.
- Practice conflict resolution among departments and employees.
- Report and track expenses to reduce costs.
- Analyze production metrics and data to determine areas to improve.
- Hire and train new employees.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure all legal requirements, company safety procedures, and local and state health and safety regulations are met.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Management, or related field required with at least 10 to 12 years' experience in management roles of increasing scope of responsibility.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing large projects, managing efficiency and effectiveness of assets and team.
- Proven Leadership skills with technical and non-technical direct reports / peers both exempt and non-exempt.
- Demonstrated capability to manage and streamline multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Industrial mechanical, electrical, pneumatic operations knowledge and process resolutions with ability to identify needed resources.
- Experience with plant support systems (chillers, compressors, etc.).
- Advanced computer skills to include MS Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD or equivalents.
- Strong understanding of polymer processes including extrusion, thermoforming, molding, foaming, and machining.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques.
- Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
- Excellent conflict-resolution and decision-making abilities
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working at elevated heights.
- Experience with lift operation and rigging equipment.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on computers.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
- Visual acuity to inspect products and machinery.
