Day-to-day:
Insight Global is looking for a Staff Geologist/Geoscientist for the subsurface development department to work deepwater fields. The candidate must have a demonstrated proficiency in constructing conventional field models and experience in well planning and drilling. They should have expertise in Petrel together with an understanding of geologic models for field development, resource/reserve estimation and well trajectory planning is required.
The Staff Geologist will have the ability to apply quantitative analysis techniques, such as paleogeography, sequence stratigraphy, geo-statistics, and risk analysis to identify and optimize development of infield hydrocarbon potential. They should have experience in building and modifying geological models to accommodate reservoir engineering history matching information is also required. The position requires a self-starter, comfortable in a fast-paced environment and shifting priorities.
Responsibilities
- Interpret seismic and well logs, generate maps and cross sections to create geological understandings for assigned fields and conduct risk and reserve/resource analyses
- Integrate data from different sources and construct geomodels in Petrel
- Create facies and petrophysical models using different methods and algorithms
- Perform well correlations, mapping and data analysis of different wells and sands
- Interface with reservoir engineers for reservoir simulation modeling
- Assess and recommend drilling of new wells and infill wells
- Present and make recommendations to management to support work
- Pre-drill well preparation and planning. Interface with Drilling, Subsurface, Regulatory and Partners
- Provide operations support in drilling/rig program and update field results and reserves as needed
