Opportunity: Athletic Director & Physical Education Teacher for the
2025–26 school year
Reports to: Heads of Lower and Middle School Divisions
All Saints’ Episcopal Day School seeks an engaging, highly motivated, and dynamic individual to serve as Athletic Director and Physical Education Teacher for the 2025–26 school year. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience as an educator, coach, and leader. We are seeking a visionary with experience and interest in building a first-class athletic program, leading a coaching staff, and fostering students’ enthusiasm for activity and fitness to create a healthy lifestyle.
The Athletic Director is responsible for integrating the School’s mission of educating children in mind, body, and soul into the physical education department’s goals. It is imperative the Athletic Director models and promotes the values set forth in “The All Saints’ Way,” consistently holding students, athletes, and coaches to these standards. We are seeking an Athletic Director who will build a program centered on commitment, sportsmanship, perseverance, and teamwork.
We seek candidates who excel at creating and articulating a clear vision, collaborating with and leading colleagues, and generating excitement and passion in students, parents, and our community regarding our athletic programs and physical education. In addition to managing all fifth- through eighth-grade athletic teams, the Athletic Director oversees pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade physical education, athletic administration, and overall fitness and health education for the school.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Lower School and Head of Middle School, this position is responsible for the operations of the Athletics Department, including:
- Serve as the leader of the Athletics Program and supervise a team of P.E. faculty members and coaches.
- Generate excitement and create a vision for the department and facilitate ongoing program growth.
- Support the philosophy, policies, and goals of the School and identify and pursue opportunities to advance the “body” component of the School’s mission.
- Oversee and continue to develop the ideal physical education/wellness program in terms of curriculum, values, and goals for the entire School.
- Foster a culture that supports the School’s athletic philosophy to serve as an extension of the educational experience, developing valuable character traits, strong teamwork, and a passion for an active lifestyle that reaches and is inclusive of all students.
- Create ongoing opportunities for students and foster participation in a variety of athletic activities.
- Interview, hire, oversee, and retain qualified coaching staff for all athletic programs.
- Coordinate with various leagues to facilitate the athletic program. Schedule athletic contests and league tournaments and coordinate facilities, transportation, officials, and security as needed.
- Ensure the health and safety of all students in the athletic program and physical education classes.
- Plan, coordinate and oversee all school athletic activities including but not limited to team sports, intramurals, award ceremonies, and other athletic events the School holds.
- Provide leadership in defining how updated athletics facilities will be used across grade levels, for faculty and staff, and for specific teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in elementary education (advanced study and/or Master’s degree is preferred).
- At least five years of experience teaching athletics/P.E. to elementary and/or middle school students, including substantial leadership experience. Experience as an athletic director is preferred.
- Education, training, and/or experience in student engagement.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
