The digital media specialist will be responsible for developing and supporting content for our Golfdom online presence, including websites, e-newsletters and social media. We might not be on the golf course every day, but we do write and report on the art of taking care of golf courses every day. The content specialist’s primary responsibility is to write, edit, proofread and post editorial content to assigned websites. In addition, the content specialist will create video, multimedia and infographic content that enhances all the written content. Collaborating closely with the editorial teams, the content specialist will maintain website standards and functionality and assist with new development planning and preparations. By establishing and following best practices, the content producer’s goal will be audience retention and engagement that increases web traffic, social media followers and opt-in subscribers to e-newsletters. The candidate must work well with cross-functional teams and be excited to join our majors golf pick-’em pool.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write, revise, edit and/or upload content for websites and e-newsletters via content management system.
- Post breaking news to website.
- Shoot, edit and post videos to websites and social media accounts.
- Manage existing social media accounts, as well as monitor and engage with audiences on those accounts.
- Produce weekly and/or monthly e-newsletter HTML and ensure timely delivery via broadcast email system.
- Design graphics for social media and websites.
- Create multimedia components that enhance website news and features using a variety of popular tools.
- Ensure proper ad tag placement for all e-newsletters and confirm functionality.
- Check ads on websites and report issues.
- Use web traffic software to analyze reports of audience usage and identify patterns.
- Explain and interpret key metrics and make recommendations for improvement.
- Identify the latest content opportunities and ways to repurpose existing content.
- Travel to cover trade shows, media events and company-hosted events and produce original writing, video, social media, and e-newsletter coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, multimedia, or digital media production.
- Two years of professional experience preferred but not required.
- Strong ability to write clean and compelling copy and conduct cross-platform editing.
- Command of video editing techniques and experience using Final Cut Pro or related video editing software.
- Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, namely Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Coursework or study in graphic design and a grasp of what makes a design work online.
- Familiarity with WordPress or similar content management systems and website best practices.
- Basic understanding of HTML and CSS for broadcast email systems and digital ad serving a plus.
