As the Construction Project Manager for the One West Palm project, you will play a pivotal role in driving the vision and successful execution of this major high-rise development. This 1.5 million square foot project includes two 30-story towers, featuring a mix of hotel, office, and residential spaces. The project is currently in the finish phase, and we need an experienced leader to oversee construction activities, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure the timely, budget-conscious, high-quality delivery of this large-scale commercial development.
In this role, you will work directly for the project owner, collaborating closely with senior leadership to ensure strategic alignment and operational excellence. Your leadership will shape the project's direction and success.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive construction strategy for One West Palm, aligned with growth objectives and organizational goals.
- Provide insights and drive the strategy to navigate project challenges, minimize risks, and maximize opportunities for future developments.
- Work closely with senior leadership to ensure the construction strategy aligns with broader company objectives, ensuring the success of current and future projects.
Project Oversight & Execution:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and successful execution of all high-rise construction activities for One West Palm.
- Ensure the project is delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while meeting the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability.
- Manage project schedules, resources, procurement, and logistics to maintain smooth and efficient operations.
- Actively engage with electrical, mechanical, and civil teams to address and resolve technical challenges.
- Oversee the finish phase and ensure that the final deliverables align with the client’s expectations and project specifications.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Build and lead a high-performance construction team, including Project Managers, Engineers, Site Supervisors, and support staff.
- Mentor and develop emerging leaders within the construction division, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to drive team success.
Budget & Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the construction division’s budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control.
- Monitor project costs, and implement cost-saving initiatives while delivering on quality expectations.
- Provide detailed financial reports to senior leadership on project status, cost forecasts, and variances, ensuring projects remain within budget.
Quality Assurance & Safety:
- Establish and enforce rigorous quality control procedures to meet and exceed industry standards.
- Promote a safety-first culture on all job sites, ensuring high levels of safety compliance and best practices.
- Integrate sustainable practices and green building standards, ensuring energy-efficient technologies and environmentally responsible solutions.
Client & Stakeholder Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the project owner, maintaining open lines of communication and fostering long-term relationships.
- Manage client expectations, resolve issues, and keep stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Negotiate and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
Contract Negotiation & Vendor Management:
- Lead contract negotiations with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors, securing favorable terms and quality.
- Maintain strong relationships with external partners to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and services.
Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate potential project risks, including financial, operational, and reputational risks.
- Proactively develop and implement strategies to minimize disruptions and keep the project on track.
Innovation & Technology:
- Stay current on construction trends, new technologies, and materials to enhance project efficiency and innovation.
- Champion the adoption of project management software, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and other tools to streamline operations and reduce costs.
Compliance & Legal Oversight:
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal construction regulations, including necessary permits and codes.
- Oversee the legal and contractual aspects of the project, ensuring that all obligations are met in accordance with company policies.
Reporting & Communication:
- Provide regular, detailed reports to senior leadership on project progress, performance, and key metrics.
- Present KPIs, progress reports, and data-driven insights to support future decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree or certifications such as PMP, LEED, preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of high-rise senior project management experience with proven success in managing large-scale, mixed-use developments (hotel, office, and residential components).
- Expertise: Deep knowledge of high-rise construction methods, materials, and techniques; experience with electrical and irrigation systems is a plus.
- Financial Acumen: Strong budgeting and cost-control experience with a track record of managing large construction budgets.
- Leadership: Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on mentoring and building high-performing teams.
- Communication & Negotiation: Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders and resolve issues efficiently.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with construction management software, BIM, and project management tools.
- Safety & Sustainability: Expertise in safety protocols, green building standards, and sustainable practices.
