Monarch Bioenergy (“Monarch”) is a leading renewable natural gas (“RNG”) development and production company specializing in turning animal waste materials into clean and sustainable energy sources. As a collaborative venture between TPG Rise Climate, Smithfield Foods, and Roeslein Alternative energy, Monarch is backed by some of the leading players across the climate, agriculture, and energy spaces.
Monarch is seeking a Strategy and Finance Associate to join our team and contribute to our mission of advancing renewable energy solutions. This person will play a crucial role in supporting the financial planning, corporate development, and strategic decision-making processes at Monarch. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams and engaging with senior leadership. This person will be a core part of our finance team and will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Investment Officer of Monarch.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills who is excited to join a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial company. Key responsibilities include:
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analyses to support investment decisions, project evaluations, and business performance assessments
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Own the corporate model and assist in the development of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans
- Investment Evaluation: Participate in evaluating internal and external investment opportunities, including conducting due diligence, building financial models, assessing risk factors, and preparing investment recommendation presentations
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze key financial and operational performance indicators. Generate regular reports to track progress against targets and identify trends
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of strategic initiatives by providing financial insights and scenario analyses
- Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements within the renewable energy and RNG sectors in order to provide insights on potential impacts and opportunities for Monarch
- Communication: Effectively communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial and operational processes, enhance data accuracy, and improve reporting efficiency. Implement best practices to support the growth and scalability of the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. Master's degree or MBA is a plus
- 1-2 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, financial analysis, or related roles
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication ability with experience building presentations targeted at senior management or boards of directors
- Familiarity with renewable energy, RNG, or related industries is a plus
- Self-motivated and adaptable, with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and drive projects independently
- Detail-oriented mindset with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Authorized to work in the United States
Location and Travel
We have a preference for someone in the Houston, TX area. The role will generally be hybrid, with occasional in-person meetings in Houston and occasional travel to project sites.
